Diaspora In Bloom: Transcending Borders Through Art

“Diaspora In Bloom: Transcending Borders Through Assyrian Art” is the first ever virtual gallery of contemporary Assyrian art featuring never before seen work by Atra Givarkes, Esther Elia, Larsa Kena, Maryam Yousif, Rabel Betshmuel, and Shamiran Istifan.

The group exhibition gathers unique perspectives on a complex and diverse identity, transcending borders that seek to divide us and offering a bird’s eye view on what it means to be human. The virtual nature of this gallery is the final element that proves Marshall McLuhan’s famed mantra “the medium is the message”. We invite you to immerse yourself in each artist’s expression, and through it, soar over walls and frontiers, with wings like eagles.

Over 30 works of art are virtually assembled in a variety of media including – painting, pottery, posters, and graphic design. The exhibition offers a fresh approach to understanding this ancient culture and addresses universal themes of hope, overcoming barriers, politicization of borders, immigration, diasporic identity, and cultural continuity.

Opens August 15th
