Spring Back into DiB
We’ve been away for awhile… Welcome to our Newsletter!
Dear Friends of Diaspora In Bloom,
Welcome to the very first issue of the Diaspora In Bloom newsletter. Exactly seven years ago, we opened our doors at the Art Ark Gallery in downtown San Jose with a simple idea: to elevate contemporary Assyrian art & culture while showcasing emerging Assyrian artists to the world.
What began as a conversation between two friends over coffee at Stanford University’s Cantor Museum has grown into a community of artists, musicians, creatives, and supporters who believe in the power of Art and that the modern Assyrian experience deserves to be seen and celebrated.
This newsletter will be our space to share what’s blooming: new exhibitions, artist features, upcoming events, and the stories behind the work we do to progress Assyrian culture. We are building something that takes time, care, and a collective effort; and none of it would be possible without supporters like you. Whether you donated towards our very first fundraiser, attended our exhibitions in San Jose, Washington D.C., or Arizona, or have just begun following along – Thank you, and welcome! Please share this substack with someone in your community and stay tuned. There is so much more to come and we are grateful to have you with us as we showcase a Diaspora in Bloom.
With gratitude,
Nardin Sarkis & Akadina Yadegar
